Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Slewsoft ("CalmDollar", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the CalmDollar website (https://www.calmdollar.com) and application (the "Service").
The short version
- Your budget data belongs to you and the members you invite. We don't sell it, and we don't show ads.
- We collect what we need to run the Service: your account details, the budget data you enter, payment records, and basic usage/security logs.
- You can export your data anytime from Settings, and you can delete your account at any time.
Information we collect
Account information. Name, email address, and authentication details, processed through our sign-in provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive a limited set of Google profile information, described under "Signing in with Google" below.
Budget data you enter. Categories, budgets, transactions, incomes, goals, accounts, notes, and any files you import (such as CSVs). CalmDollar does not connect to your bank, so we never hold your bank credentials.
Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details; we never see your full card number. We keep records of your plan, invoices, and payment status.
Usage and device information. Log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and actions taken, used for security, debugging, and improving the Service.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To process subscriptions and send transactional emails (receipts, invitations, service notices, and optional budgeting reminders you can turn off).
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your budget data for advertising.
Signing in with Google
If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google shares a limited set of profile information with us through our authentication provider (WorkOS): your name, email address, and, where available, your profile picture and Google account identifier. We use this information solely to create and secure your CalmDollar account and to sign you in. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it with third parties other than the service providers below who help us operate the Service.
CalmDollar's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke CalmDollar's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
The EveryDollar CSV Exporter browser extension
Our free Chrome extension for exporting from EveryDollar runs entirely in your browser. It reads the EveryDollar pages you are already signed into and builds the CSV files on your computer. It makes no network requests, has no analytics, and sends nothing to us. You don't need a CalmDollar account to use it.
It keeps two things on your device: the options you last chose, saved in Chrome's extension storage (Chrome may sync these across browsers you're signed into), and copies of your last eight exports, kept only on this computer so you can download them again. You can clear the saved exports from the extension's panel at any time, and uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored.
Sending your files to CalmDollar is optional. If you click "Import into CalmDollar", the extension hands the CSV files you ticked to the CalmDollar app in a new tab. They reach our servers only if you complete the import there, and from then on they're handled like any other file you import. A handoff can't be used after an hour.
Optional AI features
Two features use an AI model from our provider Anthropic to read text on your behalf. Neither sends anything until you use it, and neither is used to build advertising profiles.
- AI category suggestions are off by default and turned on per budget by an owner or adult member (Settings → Data). When on, reviewing uncategorized transactions sends Anthropic the payee names of transactions your budget has never categorized before, cleaned up with store and card numbers removed, together with your budget's category and group names. Amounts, dates, notes, accounts, and member names are never sent. We keep each answer for up to 30 days so the same payee is not sent again. Turning the setting off stops all further sending.
- Receipt scanning reads the photo on your device; only the recognized text of the receipt is sent to us, and from us to Anthropic to pick out the merchant, date, total, and line items.
Anthropic processes this text only to return the result to us, under commercial terms that do not allow it to train its models on that data.
Sharing within your budget
CalmDollar is built for shared budgets. Members of your budget can see the budget's data, including transactions and who logged them, according to their role. Don't invite people you don't want seeing the budget.
Service providers
We share information with vendors who help us operate the Service, hosting and infrastructure (Cloudflare), authentication (WorkOS), payments (Stripe), email delivery, and, only for the optional AI features above, AI processing (Anthropic), each bound to use it only to provide their service to us.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and you can take it with you whenever you like. The Settings page has a spreadsheet of your transactions and a full backup of everything you've entered.
From Settings you can also suspend your account, which pauses it without deleting anything so you can pick up later. Or you can delete it for good. When you delete your account, you have 30 days to change your mind. It is switched off right away, but nothing is erased until the 30 days are up, and cancelling before then brings everything back. After that, your sign-in and the personal information we hold are gone for good. Copies can remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 more days before they age out, and we hold on to a few billing records longer where the law requires it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Limited-role members must meet the minimum age; accounts for minors should be created and supervised by a parent or guardian where permitted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at privacy@calmdollar.com and we'll honor applicable requests.
Changes
We'll post any changes to this policy here and update the effective date; material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
